Problems with subtitles

Occasionally we are not able to subtitle the programmes we had hoped to. This can be due to technical problems or the unexpectedly late delivery of a programme.

We do understand how frustrating this is and we always try to fix the problem as quickly as possible. Most problems with subtitles are caused by poor reception.

Subtitles are affected before the pictures and one channel may be affected when others are not.

If the defective channel is on the highest frequency, then early deterioration in the aerial installation (including aerial amplifiers) usually causes that channel to suffer before the others. Also reflections from, say, a new building can selectively cause reduced effective field strength at the aerial on any frequency. If you are experiencing an ongoing issue you should check your cables and adjust your aerial, though we will always be happy to confirm if we are aware of any ongoing issues.
